Southern Cross 1st XV Rugby team are traveling to Samoa in July 2017.  This is the first overseas sports trip ever for the school and it is fitting that the 1st XV Rugby team be the first.  We will play 3 games while overseas and while this trip is about rugby, it is also an opportunity for our students to experience the Samoan Culture and hospitality.

Southern Cross has always competed in the Auckland Secondary Schools 1B competition and historically have always competed well, making the semi-finals in the past years.   Over the last few years, the team has been in a developmental phase, making changes to ensure the future success of rugby in our school.  This trip is a stepping stone for our school and our students in making change, with high aspirations to one day win the 1B Auckland Secondary schools grade.

This trip is being led by Mr Tanuvasa and Ms Tulai who are both passionate about Rugby and education.  The captain is Vaiagutu Williams and he plays at fullback.  What he lacks in size he makes up for with his commitment to the team, his attitude, determination and leadership ability.

The team has been running sausage sizzles since the start of the year and have steadily been achieving the financial goals required for this trip.  However, we are still short and we are needing financial donations to ensure all the boys who dreamed of going on this trip get to attend.

Your support would be greatly appreciated.
