Hi, my name is Sophie Bates. I have been Cheerleading for over 5 years now and I have recently been selected to represent New Zealand in Los Angeles.
I started Cheerleading when I was just 8 years old and ever since then I have continued striving to achieve my goals, improving my technique and having fun along the way!
I have competed and placed in the top 3 in many national competitions here in New Zealand and always enjoy competing.
Unfortunately, I fractured my ankle last year and I am still recovering from this injury. However, I did not let this stop me from achieving my goals. This has been a huge challenge for me but one in which has made me stronger, both physically and mentally.
My long term goal is to go on a Cheerleading exchange to America. Every day I am taking another step closer to achieving my goal and am always looking forward to every new and exciting experience to come.
I truly believe that my journey will reach the hearts and minds of many New Zealander’s as it shows that not giving up at a sport or something that you love really pays off!
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my story. It would mean so much to me if you were able to support me.
Your donations are greatly appreciated
