My name is Isaac. I’m 12 years old and live in Hawke’s Bay. I am one of four brothers and I love playing soccer! I’m pretty good at playing but I want to get better. I want to make soccer my profession. My goal is to play soccer (football) in the Champions League in Europe and to represent New Zealand at an international level.

I keep fit, train hard and love to compete! I love every minute of soccer. I also like the different teams I play for and against, the travel and people I meet and get to know. This experience is awesome!

I’m asking for your help to get me to Sydney for the M Sports Cup, an international soccer tournament, because it will be a huge stepping-stone for my sporting and personal development and will give me a taste of my dream. Over the 5 days, I will train, play and sleep at Valentine Sports Park, a new facility that is the home of football in New South Wales. I will receive top-level training from professional players and coaches, play 5–6 matches in the M Sports Cup Tournament, and have opportunities like Q&A with international players and coaches.

I train twice a week for the Federation team and have training camps and games in Napier, Palmerston North, Taupo and Wellington in the build-up to Sydney. I also run three 10-km circuits each week. When winter season starts again, I will train twice a week for my club team, Havelock North Wanderers. I’m always keen for a social game and often have a soccer ball on my foot. Mum doesn’t like me playing inside the house though. I also like playing badminton, basketball and rugby.

My brothers are involved in sport too. My younger brothers play rugby and soccer, and my 16-year-old brother swims at a national level. Mum and Dad pay fees on top of fees for all our gear, training and travel. This is why I’m asking for your support specifically for this trip because I would love to be able to help Mum and Dad with my travel costs. I help my mum with her business by doing jobs to earn my fees but that’s not enough to cover the cost of attending this tournament. Aside from all my training, I like school and keep up-to-date with my schoolwork.

The skills of professional soccer players like Messi, Pelé, Ibrahimovic and Ronaldinho inspire me, along with those of other sports players like Sonny Bill Williams and my mum – she played international netball for Samoa and went to two world cups!
