Hi, I am Fraser, I have been selected for the New Zealand Basketball Academy Under 14 team that is travelling to Las Vegas in July.
I first started playing basketball when I was 11 years old in my 7th year at primary school. The reason why I started playing was because of my close friend who said come along and give it a go. Although at the time I was unaware of how much I’d get to love and grow with the sport, I enjoyed it from day 1.
I’ve always found someone bigger and better than me around every corner. However, I’m determined to keep working hard and strive for greatness no matter how hard the challenges are. I just got selected for the Paraparaumu College senior A team.
My biggest goal is to go to the USA and play basketball for a university team. This trip to Las Vegas will give me an idea of the american style of play and the level of competition that is involved in playing in the USA. My friends and family are extremely supportive of my dream.
I am working every Saturday at a cafe to help fund my costs. It is my dream to go over to an American University and play basketball and my selection in this team is a crucial step in my development pathway. Any help towards my goal is much appreciated.
The total cost of the trip is $4233 including $2001 for airfares.
