GRANT ROUND COMPLETE

Description

Hi my name is Brooklyn Temu and I have been selected to represent New Zealand in the Under 17 Emerging White Sox softball team in Canada, this July!

Here is my story..

I started playing softball at the age of 12 years old.  I played in an all male team at first and found the passion for this game 4 years ago and have never looked back.  Last season I played age group, premier reserve and was also called up to the premier ladies for the Waitakere Bears club. I was also selected in two representative age group teams and as a result of playing in the representative campaign, I was announced in the tournament team and was consequently selected in the Under 17 NZ Emerging White Sox team traveling to Canada in July of this year.

I am one of four girls in my family of six.  All of my family members are sporty and for my parents, sending us to tournament, camps and trips away, it becomes very costly.  The funds for this trip come after a very expensive representative campaign from where I was selected for the NZ Emerging White Sox team. Due to softball being a self funded sport, as lots of sports are these days, it all comes at a cost to my family and friends who have helped me along the way and totally supported me throughout my softball career.

I would be extremely grateful for any support. Softball has become a big part of my life and it would be a dream come true to represent New Zealand.

Thank you for your consideration.
