Hi I am Briarley Rogers, I am 16 and have been selected to represent New Zealand with the Under 17 Women’s Basketball team to compete in Bangalore, India during October

[/ultimate_heading]

I was first introduced to miniball at primary school.  I have continued to play basketball as I have a huge passion for the game and I am hoping that I can play for the rest of my life.  I am at my happiest when I am playing!

Throughout the years, I have experienced obstacles and challenges.  I have struggled with injuries, people not believing in me, managing my time and fundraising.   These challenges have resulted in a determination to push myself even harder to achieve my goal of making the NZ U17 team.

Recently, I achieved my biggest goal for this year, this was to be selected in the NZ u17 team.  I was also part of our regional team – Tauranga City Basketball that finished in second place at the U23 Nationals Championships.  I was named in the Tournament Team (top ten players of the tournament).

One of my goals for my future is to obtain a basketball scholarship to attend university in the USA.  This has been a long-term goal of mine for many years and I will continue to strive to achieve it.  After university, I would love to play basketball professionally.

The tournament in India is also a qualifying tournament for the World Championships.  This would be fantastic for basketball in New Zealand to qualify, inspiring many more young kiwi kids to pick up the game.

Please accept my most sincere gratitude for your consideration to support me in my basketball journey!
