Hi, I’m Taylor McCaughan, I’m 17 years old and I have been selected to represent New Zealand at the 2017 Aerobics Championships held in Phoenix, Arizona in July this year!
At the time that I was introduced to aerobics I was 10 years old and was an artistic gymnast. From this stage onwards I began to balance my commitments for both gymnastics and aerobics which consisted of 22 hours of training a week. After long and intense hours of training in these two sports – I ended up qualifying to compete at nationals for both but had to make a choice. I decided to specialise in aerobics and increased my training hours.
Being selected to compete for New Zealand has been the highlight of my Aerobics journey so far and I am so excited to be part of the New Zealand team. I am really looking forward to competing on an international stage with competitors from all around the world.
I am currently in year 13, balancing a life of training along with studying NCEA level 3 and coaching aerobics/ gymnastics athletes. On top of these commitments I have been doing all that I possibly can to raise this money. Aerobics is a minority sport which means that it is not funded. So I really need your help!
