My name is Luke Denton. I am 12 years old and I am a Speedskater.Dad took us kids down to the Nelson Skating Rink 2 years ago as the club was being started up again. My twin Sister Zena and I and my older Brother and Sister were hooked. I loved the challenge of going really fast and gaining a placing in competitions and races and I love to aim higher always to improve my time. 

My Family all loved it too! My big Brother is 17 and he’s really fast but I can almost keep up with him now. We joined as a whole Family and it’s awesome training together. We all went away to Nationals last year because it wasn’t too far away and we won lots of medals for Nelson! This year my Dad, 2 Sisters, my Brother and I all qualified for Nationals but it was going to cost too much for us all to go and compete. We have a great club in Nelson and my Coaches Anna and Alan offered to take me. I am so happy that they did because that’s when I was selected for the OCEANIA Team! I am very excited because this will be an amazing experience for me and my first big step in reaching my ultimate goal of representing NZ and Speedskating Internationally. 

 I am very excited to have been selected to represent New Zealand at OCEANIAS to be held at the end of March! Speedskating is definitely my passion and my aim is to represent NZ at the World Skating Championships. I am very determined when I train and race and always give 101%

My Parents say to work hard always … never give up … and dream big! I believe them and that is what I am going to do. I would love for you to support me in any way you can and thank you for reading my story!
