Description
Hi, my name is Isaiah Halafihi and here is my story…
I am 18 years old and I live in Mangere Bridge, Auckland. I am the eldest of four brothers and am in my last year at Mt Roskill Grammar. Indoor netball is a game that I love and it plays a big part in my life. Through indoor I’ve made friendships and bonds with people I will have forever. Being a part of the indoor netball community has taken me to various tournaments across New Zealand.
Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to be selected in the Under 19 Mixed Indoor Netball New Zealand squad, which gives me the opportunity to travel to South Africa and compete at the WINA Aged World Series in Johannesburg in October 2018. At this stage indoor netball is a fully self funded sport. This trip is very expensive, costing over $6000 and together with savings from my part time job, I am fundraising to pay my way.
I have played sport my whole life from under 6 soccer to under 19 basketball, giving my all to whatever team I am a part of. However, representing my home country in a team sport I am so passionate about is something that I would have never dreamed of being a real or a tangible opportunity in my lifetime.
I hope you could consider supporting me in my journey, it would mean so much to me.
