Hi, I am Jake Talbot, I am 18 years old and would like to continue my passion for canoe polo on the international stage!
Here is my story..
I started playing Canoe Polo when I was 13 years old and fell in love with the sport almost immediately. Playing through Junior High School grades I first made the Hawkes Bay B2 representative team at the age of 16. Playing my first year of representative canoe polo was eye opening and made me want to be even better.
The next two years I was lucky enough to be selected into the Hawkes Bay A grade mens team which is the highest rep level possible. In my second year of A grade I was selected to represent New Zealand, in the Under 21 Mens team to play at the Oceania Champs which.
Now this year I have been lucky enough to represent the same team Under 21’s Mens team but on the world stage in Canada, hopefully to win the gold medal again!
Throughout this whole journey my family have been my rocks and have helped me financially as much as they can. However, canoe polo is a very cost expensive passion and with both myself working to fund this trip and my parents help, I am still struggling to gather all the money I need.
