Description
Hi, we are Hamish and Alex Edwards.
We have been selected to represent New Zealand at the World Championships in Australia in December.
We started off sailing at Muritai Yacht Club which was a great family club for us. We are now members of the 420 youth sailing class and trained really hard throughout winter last year. We then competed in the NZ nationals in March. We are thrilled to be nominated to be members of the NZ team to compete in Freemantle, Australia.
This a big and exciting step forward for us, as it is the first time we will be representing NZ overseas! We have been inspired by successful sailors such as Peter Burling.
The National 420 Class Association promotes youth sailing but doesn’t cover the costs to train and attend the event. We expect the total cost of coaching, training, sails, boat maintenance, event travel and accommodation to cost more than $12,000 and are currently doing all that we possibly can to fundraise this money.
