Hi, my name is Okirano Tilaia, I’m 15 years of age and am currently attending Cashmere High School in Christchurch.
I am humbly seeking financial support as I have been selected to be a part of the Air Raiders Tour for 2017!
If I am able to fundraise the necessary costs for the trip I will travel to Hawaii and California to play basketball!
I started playing basketball when I was in primary school and was selected to play for the Canterbury U13’s team when I was 11 years old. I was then selected to play for the Great Murray River Basketball Jamboree tournament in Australia in 2013. It has been an honor to be selected to play for the Canterbury ever since and to also win the championship in the NZ U14 Koru team that competed in the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup (2015).
I was the Head Boy at Christchurch South Intermediate and was offered a scholarship from 2 high schools (Christchurch Boys & Cashmere High) and decided to accept the Cashmere High school scholarship as it’s convenient for my parents to transport me to and from.
I believe that God has blessed me with a gift/talent so I have encouraged a lot of my friends and classmates to do well in school as well as joining a basketball team.
My parents have always been here for me and have always inspired me to do my best! They have taught me how to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
It would mean the world to me if I was able to raise the necessary funds to travel to America and represent New Zealand! I promise to do our country proud and always compete to the best of my ability!
