Hi, I’m Samuel. I am 18 years old and have been selected to represent New Zealand at the Tae Kwon Do International Championships in Ireland
I started Tae Kwon Do when I was 8 years old, then began competing when I was 12. Tae Kwon Do has been something that has not only kept me fit, but has been an amazing discipline, helping with all aspects of life. A highlight for me was winning gold in Sparring at the Oceania Championships. I also competed in my first international competition at the World Cup in Budapest, Hungary last year. Although I did not medal, competing gave me the confidence and knowledge of what is expected at an international level. It is an honour to be selected in the New Zealand team and this opportunity will be an amazing experience for me, I have already learnt so much. It means so much to me to represent my country in the sport that I love.
