Description
Hello, my name is Hayato and my dream is to represent New Zealand in Athletics!
I started competitive athletics at the age of 15 and have been passionate to become faster since then. Living in Queenstown for my whole life, I’ve had no coach and have been self-trained during my High School life. Although through my own individual research, I’ve managed to become faster step by step and eventually break the Southland Secondary Schools Record in the 100m in 2019 and become a national finalist at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Champs in 2018 and New Zealand Track and Field Champs 2019 for the 200m.
From these performances, I have been running for the past season, I was lucky enough to be selected for the New Zealand U20 Sprint and Relay Squad for the 2019/2020 season. This squad will be the first time I’m part of a national squad, which is exciting but only the start of my big journey.
Over the past two years, my mother has gone through a major surgery at the left hip and in 2020, she will do the same surgery but on their right hip. My parents are doing their best to support me, so I have done my best to support them through my performances I have done in various sports.
Considering I will likely be leaving this beautiful town in 2020 for tertiary education, this coincidently collides with my mothers next surgery which will give pressure to my parents financially.
Therefore I would like to give it my all and reach the highest performance level possible and want to give support to my parents from my sporting performances.
Any support will help me to achieve my athletics goals as well as being a benefit to me as an athlete, ensuring that I will be able to attend all training camps and races for the New Zealand U20 Sprint and Relay Squad.
