Hi, I am Skye Bowden. I started playing indoor cricket to keep up my fitness for outdoor cricket. It was by surprise that I was selected for the NZ training squad in 2015 on my first year of playing indoor. I was unfortunate not to make the travelling team but realised that I really wanted to represent my country. I worked extra hard the following year putting in extra training and playing for a mens team on a Monday night. I was then selected for a squad to travel to Sydney last year to compete in the Trans Tasman Series. We lost the series but gained so much experience. I was named MVP of the series out of both teams.
This year it is the World Cup in Dubai. Mum and Dad have always been supportive and done all they can, but this time the costs are too expensive for us. My parents cannot afford to send me, so I must find a way to raise the necessary funds.
The total trip will cost around $5500. I am one of four siblings. I live with my mum, dad, grandfather, grandmother and my siblings. My parents rent our property. I am doing my own raffles and fundraising to bring the cost down, but as this is not funded by NZ Cricket we have to come up with the funds on our own
