People ask me why I play basketball… I say WHY NOT?! I get to stay fit, hang out with my friends and have lot’s of fun!
Hi, I’m Rory Rudolph and here is my story…

I have always loved being active and getting involved in all kinds of sports. One day I hope to play basketball for the Tall Blacks or the Breakers. I believe this opportunity will help me get there!

Even though i’m usually the smallest in any team,  I have never let that intimidate me or stop me from chasing my dreams! So far I have represented my school and the Bay of Islands in many different sports, including baseball, volleyball, rippa rugby, touch rugby and of course basketball!

This year I have been asked to be a part of 4 teams of boys aged 12-18, to travel to America to play Basketball. I will have the opportunity to play in 4 competitions with other young sportsmen from all over the world, I am so excited to have the chance to meet these players and their coaches, I will even get the chance to meet STEVEN ADAMS!

I live with my mother and my two siblings, I am so grateful for everything she has done for me so far. We haven’t always had a lot of money in our house but my mum always finds a way to get us through the hard times, unfortunately this time she can’t afford to get me to America on her own, we have been trying really hard to fundraise, but it is a lot of money for her to try save at such short notice.

I believe that with your help I can show other kids my age that you don’t have to be the biggest or have the best gear to achieve your goals and dreams.

All you need is a dream, something that drives you and a determination to succeed.
