I need funding for my coach and I to travel to Europe where I have been selected to represent NZ at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Zagreb, Croatia 7-11 October and then the ISU Coupe de Nice in France 15-18 October. I am trying to obtain the necessary technical score at the above competition to represent NZ at the ISU Junior World Championships 2016.
I have the opportunity to be coached in West Edmonton, Canada by Ravi Walia, A senior Canadian Olympic coach. I would use this opportunity to prepare for Junior World Championships. Cost involves 1-2 months in Canada with airfares, accommodation and coaching expenses so somewhere around the $600- $1000 per week. At this stage we have had to put this opportunity on hold as we don’t have enough money for this
I have been skating for since 2010, my dad works two jobs and my mum works as well to support me. I coach at the local skate school and work at temporary ice rinks in the holidays to raise money. The cost of the sport is now getting beyond our family’s budget. I have to travel overseas several times a year now to compete along with all the other skating costs.
