Maeve White has been selected for the U21 NZ Teams Sailing Team to travel to Campione del Garda in Italy during August to compete in the 420 World Team Racing Championships

Description

I am Maeve White, I am 16 and have been selected for the U21 NZ Teams Sailing Team

I have been a member of the Kerikeri High School open sailing team for two years, making the team in my first year with no previous sailing experience.  The team then went on to win the 2016 nationals and placed second at the 2017 nationals in a very strong event. Since my first nationals, I have sailed with the same skipper, who has also been selected for the under 21 New Zealand Team. We will be sailing together for the Worlds as a very well raced combination.

My biggest strengths are the ability to pick up on things quickly and learning fast and I am of a competitive nature.

In the future, I hope to go on to compete in match racing and I plan to make the most of all the opportunities presented to me.

This opportunity is a dream for me and I would be extremely appreciative of any support that you may be able to give me to assist in making this dream become a reality, as I would love to be able to travel to Italy to compete in these championships.
