My name is Luke Hamblin and my partner Ella and I have passed the assessment by getting second in the Intermediate section at the Invercargill Club Champs, and we are now heading to the Nationals in Whanganui at Easter in 2017. I have been fundraising by doing BBQs and scratchy boards, but we haven’t been able to fundraise nearly as much as we need.
Ella and I have been dancing together for two years, and this year at the nationals in Porirua we placed fourth in our category which was a massive achievement for us. Next year we are hoping to do better again and any help that you may give me to help get there, I would be very thankful for.
LUKE NEEDS HELP TO ATTEND THE ROCK AND ROLL NATIONALS IN WANGANUI
A LITTLE ABOUT LUKE..
His highest achievements would be 4th at the nationals, also 2nd at the Invercargill club champs. They have hard to work extra hard to gain a place in those competitions, whereas in previous competitions, they have competed in the Novice section where there have only been 2 or 3 competitors, so they were always guaranteed a place. Luke has been with the Rock and Roll club for two years, we took him down there as he quite liked the dancing in the movie Grease. He was quite shy at first and wasn’t to keen to be dancing with a girl, but it didn’t take long for them to become comfortable with each other and from there they have gone from strength to strength. Training is at least two nights a week plus timing sessions on a Sunday. During the school Holidays, we book the hall for extra practice sessions. It takes a lot of hard work and commitment, but Luke is the kind of kid who just knuckles down and gets to it, so he can be the best he knows he can.. be.
