GRANT ROUND COMPLETE

Description

Hi, I am Kurt Coetzee, I am a 17 yr old cyclist from Whangarei

I am honoured to have been selected to represent New Zealand in the duathlon world championships in Canada, but I need your help in getting there.

My journey started when my younger brother started the sport of duathlon.  I initially discovered that cycling was where my passion was.  I now train six days per week, completing between 400 to 500km in a normal week and belong to the Whangarei Tri Club.  As a student of Whangarei Boys’ High School, I am finding it very difficult to juggle my training schedule with school, making fundraising and working increasingly difficult.

Over the coming months, I will be competing in the Tour of Northland, the National Secondary Schools Triathlon Championships, a national development cycling camp, the national time trial and road race championships and the national age group cycling championships.

I am extremely appreciative of any support that I may receive.

One of my current goals is selection into the NZ cycling team for the Youth Commonwealth Games in July.

Duathlon World Championships in Canada – Estimated costs:
travel and accommodation $4000
race kit/uniform: $400
coaching (4 months) $400
training and racing shoes: $200
total: $5000
