Hi my name is Keisha and dancing is my passion!
Here is my story..
I started dance classes at the age of 2 and a half and I am now aged 13. I currently study hip hop, contemporary, jazz and ballet. Since the age of 8 I have been dancing competitively, achieving many placings in competitions for dancing and choreography. I love performing and entertaining an audience!
I also received a JDNZ Scholarship for my jazz dancing exam in 2015. In 2017 I competed at Street Dance NZ nationals with my crew Prez, which was an amazing experience!
I dream of making a career out of dance as a teacher, choreographer and performer. In 2017, at the age of 12, I trained up my first school crew and entered them in the NZCAF Schools’ Hip Hop Competition. Now that I am at secondary school, I help to teach the primary school crew every Wednesday after school. Several of the students are now learning privately from me and I occasionally run workshops at the school. I love sharing my love of dance with the younger students.
I have been given the amazing opportunity to attend the “She Shines On” dance tour in New York and Florida in April 2019. I would attend classes with elite dancers and choreographers, meet with agents, attend a broadway show and perform at Disney Springs. This would really inspire me and provide the tools I need to help me achieve my dream of having a career in dance.
As I will need to raise a total of around $8000 to cover the tour, airfares and other expenses, my family cannot afford this on top of my tuition, competition and exam expenses. Therefore I would like to support my parents with covering this cost, through this campaign from iSPORT.
