Description

My beautiful daughter Elle is 12 and she has been apart of the Allstar Galaxy Starlite level 1 team for three years. In this time Elle and her team have successfully achieved 15 medals (3 Gold, 9 Silver and 3 bronze medals). At the end of last year, Elle mastered her backwards handspring and has made it into the level 2 Galaxy Eclipse team. She is now working on her backwards tuck, I am super proud of her and all her efforts she puts in daily. Elle has been to Australia twice to represent New Zealand in Cheer. In 2014 the Allstar Galaxy Starlites team won gold and in 2015 they obtained a silver medal. This year moving up a team has come with extra expenses. Elle has been given the opportunity to compete overseas in Hawaii on June 11th. However I am unable to send her without funding, as it is too financially difficult (keeping up with the sport fees is hard enough!). I do not want to let my daughter down or her team. Elle works super hard at developing her skills and is committed to her team. She puts in hard practice at home and trains with her team on Sundays for three hours and Monday nights for an hour and a half. Elle loves cheerleading – it’s her passion and she is getting better and better at it. Her goal is to make it into the New Zealand Development squad and then move up into the New Zealand, level 5 cheer team. Elle learns off the best, her coaches are Michelle Williams and Lexi Tetenburg. Michelle is a great coach, last year in April she competed at the International World Comps in Florida, in the New Zealand team.

As a mum I believe sport is so important in developing young children, there are multiple benefits, which comes with participating in sport. For example sport helps build strong character, good values and teaches them life lessons through sport. I am currently on my third year of studying Bachelor of Sport- Marketing and Management degree at Unitec. As a sport student I love what the iSPORT Foundation purpose is and how it helps aspiring young athletes to succeed and achieve their goals in their sport. I look forward to hearing from you.
