My twin Sister and I are trying to raise funds to get us to the Under 23 World Sailing Champs in Japan.
Brie and I started sailing when we were 10 at Wakatere Boating Club. Since then we have chipped away at our sailing, achieved a successful 420 youth campaign – finishing 8th at the ISAF World Champs last year. Now we are chasing our long term olympic dreams by sailing the 470 class. We train from our garage and sail out of Murrays Bay 5 days a week as well as finishing our schooling. Together we are looking to go to the under 23 World Championship in Japan in August this year. However, we are only one family and with both of us passionate about living our dream, this become extremely expensive.
MY sister and I sail a 470 class boat together. It’s a double handed boat. As we are both from the same family, it is very hard on our parents to fund our dream by themselves. Usually in the campaign, it’s one person from two families which is not such a significant cost for a family, however, as Brie and I work the best as a team, it’s a huge financial challenge. We both love sailing with a passion, but have always had to think about costs and budgeting in our daily lives so that we can chase our dream.
We need funding for flights, accommodation, boat freighting, storage and transport.
We will appreciate any support. Thank you.
