Hi, I am Ben Orsman and I have a DREAM
Since I was three, I have been annoying my family with a football. I was fortunate to have my own private football field from that age of three (my parents lounge). I can’t remember breaking anything much, but my dad still reminds me of the missing light fitting in our lounge.
My family: Mum, Dad and two older sisters. My mum works part-time in a bakery and dad works with tree’s. I have a sister overseas and I go to Tawa College with my other sister. She is a swimmer and we get on pretty well, normally.
I started playing football for a club at five and was picked up by Ole Football Academy when I was eight. Over the past five years I have been fortunate to receive some financial support through scholarships or by Ole helping me out. Unfortunately, like many good things in life, they change.
This year we have asked to find our own means of funding. My parents work hard to provide opportunities for us, but we are a low income family and the costs of living everyday makes life difficult. Simply put, I love football and I believe I have the talent and drive to be successful. I know my coaches have that same belief in me.
Asking for financial support isn’t something me or my family like doing, but if it can help me realise my dreams then anything given will be absolutely appreciated.
