Description

We are the Marist School girls U18 Rugby 7s team. We are a special group of young female athletes invited to take part in the International school Girl Rugby 7s event in Las Vegas, which is part of the LVI tournament where 300+ teams from around the world compete in a 3day event, along side the World 7s Series.

We were chosen because our head coach is one of only a few female coaches coaching at a high level but also because we have the potential to succeed on the highest sporting platform currently available for us in HS girls Rugby 7s. Also making the final of the event the game is played in from of 30,000 people at the Sam Boyd Stadium, which is our goal.

The cost for the entry fee is US$450 per team.

And the cost for the rentals of the Van’s for the duration of the trip are approx US$2300.00 as quoted by the van rental company in Los Angeles,

The accommodation is US$$2,758.00 for the duration of our tournament in las Vegas staying at the tournament hotel. So any help to offset these cost are greatly appreciated.

$5000 will contribute towards the cost of this trip

We require help due to the fact we are from some of the lowest economic areas of New Zealand. And many of these girls have lost at least one parent and so financially would find it very hard to pay for a trip like this themselves. and we are doing club events to help pay and cover the cost of food and airfares as well.

HELP ONE OF NZ’S TOP U18 GIRLS RUGBY 7S TEAM REPRESENT NZ IN LAS VEGAS FOR A ONCE IN A LIFE TIME CHANCE

WHAT WILL THE FUNDING BE USED FOR?

  • Travel costs
  • Competition fees

HOW WILL THIS BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY?

This is helping young female rugby players from some of the lowest economic and social communities, to aspire to be team leaders and Great role models for their communities. We also promote a “stop the cycle” against family violence as some of these girls unfortunately have been in CYF or taken to women’s refuge centres due to family violence. These girls are promising young athletes that have the potential to represent NZ on the world stage but also show that is doesn’t matter where you come form you can achieve and reach your dreams. The team trip to the USA will give them more confidence and pride for themselves and their culture, which I truly believe will filter into their communities.
