GRANT ROUND COMPLETE

Description

Hi my name is Annebell, I am a rhythmic gymnast. I have dedicated 8 years of my life to this sport and have the opportunity to pursue my dreams.
This is my story…

I began gymnastics when I was 5 and a half years old. My mother had noticed my natural talent and flexibility, so she decided to join me into a recreational rhythmic programme. This is where I discovered my passion and love for the sport.
At a young age of 6 years old, I competed in my first competition as a level 1 gymnast. At the age of 8 years old I faced one of my biggest challenges so far. I sustained a serious lower back injury, which took me out of the sport for 9 months. I was dedicated to do everything I could to enable me to be able to compete again.

By the end of that year, after 9 months of intensive rehabilitation and physiotherapy, I was well enough to return to the sport.  At this same time my family moved to Auckland in order for me to train at a renowned rhythmic gymnastics club.  I was the youngest National level 4 gymnast that year and soon after I moved clubs to pursue a pre-international career in the sport.

My biggest achievements within the sport are; my 2nd overall placing in the pre-international stage 3 at the New Zealand National Championships in 2015 and being a member of the grade 3 group that won the New Zealand National Championships title in 2016.

I would be so grateful to receive any support in getting me to Melbourne, to achieve my dream to compete internationally and continue my journey with determination and pride!

I believe that my journey will make it possible for other aspiring athletes to NEVER give up!
One of my greatest mottos is “Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard”.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story!
